On a standard Windows keyboard, physical Ctrl stays Ctrl, the Windows key acts as Command and Alt as Option — no system-level modifier swap. Windsify translates each shortcut on top, so every combination lands where your fingers expect.

Terminal stays Terminal
Ctrl+C is still interrupt. Terminal apps keep Ctrl+A–Z as native control sequences, and Ctrl+Shift+C/V/N/T/W provide Windows Terminal-style app actions.
Finder speaks Windows
F2 renames. Enter opens. Delete moves to Trash, Backspace goes back, and Ctrl+X then Ctrl+V moves files with Finder's native copy-then-move.
Home and End know where they are
They jump to the start and end of the line — but only while a text editor is focused. Everywhere else the keys pass through untouched, so nothing unrelated fires.

Windsify checks for other remappers before it acts. While Karabiner-Elements, an active hidutil mapping or a macOS Modifier Keys mapping is remapping your keys, Windsify pauses only its own overlapping keyboard layer — window management keeps running.
Nothing breaks mid-migration: overlapping Win-key hot keys are released too, so Karabiner's Home and End translations aren't mistaken for snap commands. Move over at your own pace.

The event engine evaluates key codes and modifier flags in memory and discards each event once the action is chosen. Windsify doesn't record or transmit typed text, never asks for Screen Recording, and needs no network connection to work.

What happens when the 14-day trial ends?
The trial is the complete app — every feature, nothing held back. When it ends, buy a $19 license to keep using the signed build, or switch to your own build from the MIT source. One-time payment, no subscription.
Is the free build-from-source version limited?
No. The GitHub repo contains the full app under the MIT license — same features, your build. The $19 version adds code signing, notarization and a drag-install DMG, and it supports development.
How many Macs does a license cover?

Why does Windsify need the Accessibility permission?
macOS gates what Windsify does behind Accessibility: translating keyboard events, finding the frontmost app and focused window, and moving, resizing and restoring windows. Windsify doesn't use it to read or store what you type — events are evaluated as key codes in memory and discarded once the action is chosen. Your keystrokes never leave the Mac.
Can I keep running Karabiner-Elements or Rectangle?
Yes. Windsify detects Karabiner-Elements, Rectangle, macOS Modifier Keys and hidutil mappings, and pauses only its own overlapping keyboard layer while another tool is actively remapping — window management keeps running. Migrate at your own pace.
